Documenting completed service and maintenance work even more securely and conveniently – this is guaranteed by the new “Digital Service Booklet” online system for Mercedes-Benz drivers. Since July 1, this system is available in 35 European markets for all Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This means that Mercedes-Benz is now extending the service documentation already in successful use for the E-, CLS-, SL- and SLK-Class to include the entire passenger car range.
The “Digital Service Booklet” enables every service to be documented online, thus replacing the conventional maintenance documentation for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. All data on the individual maintenance jobs will be stored safely and securely in a central Mercedes-Benz database protected against third-party access.
Security and convenience for customers
Customers will receive a printout to be kept in the service booklet as tangible evidence that maintenance work has been performed. If this digital service report is lost, all Mercedes-Benz partners can provide information on all service data of the vehicle and have a full overview of work completed to date in a matter of seconds. If required, the most recent service report and a complete service history can also be provided, which means that customers can demonstrate warranty compliance at any time.
If customers change workshop or are abroad, there is another plus point to the “Digital Service Booklet”: the service report is seamlessly continued and is available in the language of the respective country.
The new system has a clear and logical structure. First of all the relevant vehicle is identified via its vehicle identification number. Self-explanatory screen displays make it easy and intuitive to operate – a key condition for international use. Moreover, the transparency of the vehicle data makes reception and workshop planning easier for the workshops.
The “Digital Service Booklet” is also highly useful when selling a used vehicle. For instance, mileages and completed service scopes remain documented in the database in a forgery-proof and verifiable manner. This gives buyers additional security and preserves the resale value of Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
